PESHAWAR – The chairman of Peshawar Zalmi, Javed Afridi on Saturday extended congratulations to two politicians from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on their election to the upper house of Pakistan’s parliament.

Mirza Mohammad Afridi was elected senator from the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) by bagging 7 votes.

The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) managed to bag five seats on its home turf, with Ayub Afridi, Faisal Javed and Fida Muhammad successfully bagging a general seat each.

PTI’s Mehar Taj Roghani was elected to one of the women’s seats from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Also, PTI’s Azam Swati was elected to the technocrat seat for the province.
However, PTI-backed cleric Maulana Samiul Haq of Darul Uloom Haqqani could bag only three votes.
