Three suspects nabbed for killing Careem driver in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD – Police have arrested three suspects in a case regarding the killing of an online taxi-hailing service, Careem, captain on Wednesday.

The Careem captain Sajawal Ameer, 22, was shot dead by robbers in the federal capital on late Monday night.

SSP (Operations) Muhammad Bin Ashraf told media that police have taken into custody the three men involved in the murder of Sajawal Ameer, a Careem driver, and recovered the weapon used in the murder.

The detained killers, who confessed their crime during the investigation, were identified as Parwaz, Sheraz and Sajid.

The three accused hailed the cab at 10:45 pm and attempted car-lifting upon reaching the destination in Dhok Lakhu area of Rawalpindi.

This is the second incident against online taxi-hailing service drivers in three weeks as on Feb 22, Junaid Mustafa, a 26-year-old Careem captain, was killed by the person who booked a ride for Sector G-13 of Islamabad. The captain was working with the ride-hailing service for the past three months.

The police have nabbed the suspect, identified as 25-year-old Attaullah. The suspected killer fired three bullets at the captain named Junaid Mustafa after he shown resistance over the robbery attempt, leaving him dead on the spot.
