BEIJING (Web Desk) – Three hundred JF-17 Thunders, co-developed by Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC) and Pakistan’s Air Force (PAF), are expected to be sold with in next 10 years.
Yang Ying, president of China National Aero-Technology Import & Export Corporation (CATIC), revealed during a press conference jointly held by China and Pakistan, reported People’s Daily Online.
Chief project director of JF-17 fighter project of PAF, Marshal Arshad Malik said, “The JF-17 Thunder is cost-effective and its potential is unrivaled among fighter jets at the same level.”
To date PAF has established three JF-17 fighter squadrons and plans to equip them with at least 250 JF-17 fighters in the next few years.
China and Pakistan signed a deal to develop the fighter in 1998. The first batch of JF-17 Thunders was delivered to Pakistan in 2007.
