ISLAMABAD – The former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said on Tuesday that uncivilized restrictions were not good for the country which may lead to anxiety.
In an informal discussion with newsmen outside the accountability court, the PML-N’s ‘Quaid For Life’, warned that the consequences of restrictions would be worse, in a reference to the Lahore High Court ban on airing of ‘contemptuous’ speeches.
Sharif, who is facing corruption charges in Panama gate scandal, said that protest was the right of everyone if it is within legal boundaries adding the court should make clear what ‘anti-judiciary’ means,
This is not an era of speech ban, he clarified.

The 68-years-old politician said that the ban on his speech was unclear to him and he would explain his position once he fully understands the verdict of the provincial high court.
The former lawmaker also pledged his full support to the activists who advocate human rights and defy coercion.
This is a land of 22 million Pakistani and everyone has the liberty to express his feelings, he declared.
Highlighting the achievements made by the elected regimes, the former premier expressed that elected governments made historic decisions, including the atomic tests.

“We moved on but did not compromise on principals. The other side should have moved on too,” he asserted, as he decried the unfortunate dharnas (sit-ins) carried out in the country against his government.
Referring to the summons issued against him by the National Accountability Bureau regarding the Raiwind Road, the elder Sharif taunted that in 1990 they started the motorway, there should be a case on it too and one over the atomic tests.
On the issue of government’s plan to merge the Federally Administered Tribal Areas with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, Nawaz Sharif said that the authority lied with the tribespeople, who should get their rights.
