LAHORE – The Punjab government on Friday decided that they would not table budget for the fiscal year 2018-19, despite the fact that the same ruling party presented the budget in the centre.
According to media reports, Finance Minister of Punjab, Dr Ayesha Ghaus Pasha said that the government would only present the interim budget for the current fiscal year, clarifying that the government, however, had prepared the budget.
Dr Ayesha asserted that the caretaker government would present the budget for the complete fiscal year 2018-19.
It is pertinent to mention that Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah had on Monday announced that his government would introduce the budget for the whole year, but the development funds would be made available only for four months.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf-led government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had also announced that it would be presenting the budget in May, taking a U-turn on it’s earlier decision to not present an ‘unconstitutional budget’.

Earlier, the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) became the country’s first political party to announce six federal budgets in its tenure on Friday amid opposition protests calling for a budget, covering only the remaining three months of the federal government’s tenure.
Finance Minister Miftah Ismail presented Budget 2018-19 with a total outlay of over Rs5.932 trillion, which has been approved by the federal cabinet but the parliament has yet to pass it.
