Pilots injured as training aircraft crashes in Lahore

LAHORE – A small plane crashed in Punjab’s capital city Lahore on Tuesday, injuring two pilots.

According to initial reports, the training aircraft came down in Garden Town area, near Kalma Chowk, after taking off from Walton Airport.

Following the accident, the plane caught fire because it came in contact with high tension electric wires.

Rescuers rushed to the site and shifted the pilots to hospital for treatment.

The aircraft was a Rans S6-ESD-XL Coyote II – a Kit and Light Sports aircraft.

The single-engine, wooden-propellor was manufactured in 1997 and was registered in London. The aircraft was registered in Pakistan in 2012.
