Shehbaz Sharif declared medically fit as NAB probe continues

ISLAMABAD – A medical board has declared Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz President Shahbaz Sharif medically fit, removing doubts looming over the health of the politician.

Shehbaz was examined by a three-member medical board of the Polyclinic Hospital at the minister’s enclave early Monday; the ECG, blood tests and ultrasound of the leader of the opposition in the National Assembly were examined by the doctors.

The medical fitness certificate of the lawmaker was handed over to NAB after the examination. The accountability watchdog had arrested the former chief minister Punjab last month.

The younger Sharif, who is a cancer patient and is being probed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in the Ashina-i-Iqbal Housing scam, had complained that he didn’t get a proper treatment in custody.

However, a thorough inspection suggests that the legislator is medically fit, much to the relief of his followers and family members.

Shehbaz Sharif would be produced before a NAB court in the current week by the NAB officials. Currently, the leader is in Islamabad owing to the production orders issued by National Assembly Speaker, Asad Qaiser.
