Peshawar airport partially shut down till June 4

PESHAWAR – Bacha Khan International Airport has been partially closed for necessary maintenance work till June 4.

Large body aeroplanes were barred from landing at the airport on Thursday as the taxiways had become ‘puffy’ due to soaring temperatures. Authorities said the routine operations will be resumed at the airport on June 5 after fixing the puffiness.

The flights which were scheduled to land in or take off from the Peshawar airport will be operated at the newly constructed Islamabad International Airport.

The passengers of the affected flights are being informed by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) on the provided contact numbers. The officials also offered apologies to passengers for the inconvenience, Dawn News reported.

The airport recently underwent expansion and renovations work inaugurated by outgoing prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on May 23. The premature inauguration caused issues at the airport as earlier it was scheduled to be completed till December 2018
