ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – The former president and Pakistan People’s Party co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari expressed his reservations over general election 2013, yet once again, announcing that the party will soon issue a white paper about it.
Zardari, while addressing media persons after a brief meeting with JUI-F head Maulana Fazlur Rehman, said his party had accepted the elections’ results for the sake of democracy, despite having concerns.
He blamed Nawaz Sharif, the prime minister, for not following the democratic strategies, which according to him, pushed Sharif into troubles.
“We are determined to flourish democracy in the country”, he vowed, “and for that we want the government to introduce electoral reforms in the country”.
Commenting on his meeting with Fazl, Zardari said, “It is the time of Senate elections and we exchanged views on it.”
Zardari dismissed the rumours about differences with his son, party chief Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, saying that what differences could be between a father and his son. He said such rumours could have substance if he had three sons.
On the occasion, Maulana Fazl ruled out any major agenda of the meeting, saying, “We just discussed the current political situation in the country.”
