Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight PK-222, en route from Dubai to Multan, narrowly avoided disaster when all of its tires burst during takeoff. Thanks to the swift and skilled response of the flight crew, the lives of 172 passengers were safeguarded.
The incident occurred as the aircraft began its takeoff, when the pilots received an alert of an engine malfunction. Acting quickly, the captain deployed the emergency brake system, bringing the plane to a halt on the runway. Due to the crew’s professionalism and quick thinking, no injuries were reported.
Passengers were swiftly transferred to the airport lounge, where PIA made immediate arrangements for their comfort. The airline has arranged alternative flights to minimize disruptions. Some passengers will travel on flight PK-204 from Dubai to Lahore, while others will be accommodated on a flight from Sharjah to Multan.
PIA’s engineering team from Karachi will fly to Dubai to resolve the technical issues with the aircraft. The airline has assured that an investigation into the incident will be conducted, emphasizing that passenger safety is always their top priority.
