British newspaper criticises Imran Khan’s candidacy for Oxford’s chancellorship

A British newspaper has labeled PTI founder Imran Khan as a Taliban sympathizer, stating that his nomination as Chancellor of Oxford is an insult to the women of Oxford.

According to the British newspaper The Guardian, the PTI founder Imran Khan’s application for the Oxford Chancellor nomination is against university traditions. It can a person who is a friend of the Taliban be the right choice for Oxford University’s Chancellor? Imran Khan supported the Taliban, who imposed a ban on women’s education, and referred to Osama bin Laden as a martyr.

The Guardian asks if a Taliban sympathizer can contest for the Chancellor position of Oxford University. Imran Khan had also blamed women’s clothing as the reason for sexual assaults.

According to The Guardian, Imran Khan’s candidacy is an insult to Oxford’s women, including current and former female graduates. No one’s chancellorship would be more favored by the Taliban and their apologists than Imran Khan’s; it’s hard to imagine such a person. If only someone would tell Imran Khan and his supporters the same.

The Guardian has endorsed Lady Elish Angiolini as the best candidate for Oxford University. The newspaper describes her as already an asset to Oxford University, non-political, and highly respected. Lady Elish Angiolini has announced that if she becomes Chancellor, she will make the university more accessible to students from poor backgrounds.

The British newspaper has compared the PTI founder to Andrew Tate. According to The Guardian, Andrew Tate is a social media influencer known for making controversial statements about women.

The column raises the question that the Chancellor’s term at Oxford University lasts for a decade, and the Chancellor needs to be available throughout the year, but Imran Khan has been sentenced to 14 years and is in jail, so how will he be available?

Experts believe that the article has severely damaged Khan’s chances of candidacy.

Imran Khan congratulated the Taliban on “breaking the chains of slavery.” Previously, Khan also refused to call Osama bin Laden a terrorist.

Earlier, the Daily Mail also raised serious questions about Imran Khan’s candidacy for Oxford’s chancellorship, calling him a “disgraced” former prime minister.
