LAHORE – A digital system to strengthen maternal and child health sector has been launched by the Punjab Population Welfare Department with the support of United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
The launching ceremony of the new system namely ‘TADREES’ was organised here Thursday with Provincial Minister for Population Welfare Col (r) Hashim Dogar in the chair.
On the occasion, while addressing the event, USAID Project Management Specialist Dr Ismail Virk said he hoped joint U.S.-Pakistan efforts would help achieve the countries’ common goal of reducing maternal and child mortality.
The new software and a related mobile application would strengthen maternal and child health sector in Punjab by digitizing reporting, processing and archiving of healthcare providers’ training records.
While addressing the ceremony, the minister said that the introduction of innovative technology would transform the health sector. It would also be helpful for service providers. He said that training related to maternal and child health care could easily be monitored via this information system and a related mobile app.
Hashim Dogar said that TADREES would reduce duplication in training records and ensure training opportunities for healthcare workers.
Addressing the event, the Population Welfare secretary said that the US-Pakistan efforts would help achieve the country’s common goal of reducing maternal and child mortality.
The officers from the Population Welfare Department also attended the event.
In partnership with the Pakistan govt, USAID aims to strengthen the skills of healthcare providers and community-based health workers in Punjab, Balochistan, and Sindh. In Punjab, the program has trained healthcare workers in 29 of 36 districts.
