ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Army on Friday responding to the prevailing situation after Asia Bibi’s acquittal by the Supreme Court said that it is unfortunate that army is dragged in every issue.
Major General Asif Ghafoor, director general of Inter-Service Public Relation, talking to the state television said that it is a legal matter and it will be better if the law is allowed to complete its due process on it.
Earlier this week, the apex court acquitted the Christian woman sentenced to death for committing ‘blasphemy’ in 2009.
Following the verdict, Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) took to streets across the country and its leadership started using despicable language against the forces and the judiciary.

The DG ISPR went on to say that all Muslims have love-based relation with the Prophet (PBUH) and there will be no compromise on this relation, adding that Islam teaches us peace, tolerance and kindness.
The army is very close to win the war against terrorist and its focus should not be distracted, he said, adding that law and order will be maintained in the country.
Apparently sending a clear message to firebrand clerics of TLP, he said: “In accordance with the law and Constitution, people should avoid from giving statements against the army.”
He added, “We want the situation to be resolved in a peaceful manner.”
On Wednesday, Prime Minister Imran Khan addressing the nation through a video message lamented that a small section took the streets after the verdict and used foul language and incited general public to revolt against the army chief and judges.
“The despicable language used by a small section of the society against the army, judiciary and the government is deplorable. Such language is used by enemies of the state,” Khan said in his address.

Bibi, a Catholic mother of five, was sentenced to death by a trial court in November 2011 on charges of making derogatory remarks about Holy Prophet (PBUH). Four years later, her appeal was also rejected by the Lahore High Court. She then filed an appeal in the Supreme Court which held a single day hearing on October 8 and reserved its verdict.
