New power ministry to be formed by combining two ministries

ISLAMABAD – The government has reportedly decided to form a new ministry of power by merging the ministries of petroleum and water and power, local media reported.

As per reports, the new ministry will be held by Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, who was petroleum minister in ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s cabinet. The new PM will also look after the planning ministry.

A separate ministry will also be established for water.

This emerged on the day (Friday) the new members of the federal cabinet of PM Abbasi took oath at the Aiwan-e-Sadar.

The new federal cabinet under incumbent Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi consists of 47 ministers and state ministers, including 28 ministers and 19 state ministers, local media reported. Six new federal and 12 state ministers have been included in the cabinet.
