Akram Sheikh quashes PTI’s assumption regarding his withdrawal from legal team of Sharif family

ISLAMABAD – Renowned lawyer and counsel of premier’s scions Akram Sheikh has decided to part ways with the legal team defending Sharif family in Supreme Court in the Panama papers case.

According to reports, Akram was representing Hassan, Hussain and Maryam Nawaz in the apex court but soon after Sharif family submitted an application for replacement of lawyers, Akram decided to disassociate himself from the team.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf claimed that Akram felt satisfied after separation from the legal team and also thanked God by offering prayer as he felt he got rid of the high-profile case.

However, Sheikh did not say anything regarding this while talking to newsmen. Sources privy to seasoned lawyer suggested that Akram decided not to be a part of legal team anymore as Sharif family had hired more lawyers including Salman Akram Raja and Shahid Hamid who would take up the case in a much better way.

It is relevant to mention that Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif has replaced Salman Aslam Butt with Makhdoom Ali Khan whereas Hussain Nawaz and Hassan Nawaz’s new lawyer will be Salman Akram Raja in place of Akram Sheikh.

Akram Sheikh was lampooned after he submitted a letter from Qatari royal family suggesting that the flats were purchased through the settlement of accounts between his family’s company and Mian Shareef.

Meanwhile, the apex court has decided to hear the Panama case on daily basis.

On the other hand, Makhdoom Ali Khan would be the counsel of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
