First Hajj flights take off from Lahore, Islamabad for Madina

LAHORE – The first Hajj flight carrying 214 pilgrims took off from Allama Iqbal International Airport, Lahore for Madina on Thursday.

Meanwhile, the flight SV 719 under government scheme carrying 350 intending pilgrims left New Islamabad International Airport for Madina.

Immigration and other formalities of the intending pilgrims were completed under “Road to Makkah project” at Islamabad airport.

Minister for Religious Affairs Noor-ul-Haq Qadari, Minister for Aviation Ghulam Sarwar Khan, Saudi Ambassador to Pakistan Nawaf Saeed Ahmad Al-Malki bid adieu to the passengers.

According to Spokesperson for Religious Affairs Ministry, Hajj flight operation from Karachi and Peshawar will begin tomorrow (Friday).

He said the pilgrims would be brought to Hijaz e Muqaddas also from Sukkar, Multan, Rahim Yar Khan, Faisalabad and Sialkot.

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is also starting direct Hajj flights from Quetta this year.
