State institutions should avoid meddling in others affairs: Raza Rabbani

KARACHI – Senate Chairman Raza Rabbani on Saturday urged all state institution to work within their limits stated in the Constitution.

Talking to reporters after addressing a seminar, ‘challenges for provincial autonomy laws after 18th amendment’ at National Institute of Management, he said that the institutions should avoid interfering in each other’s domains by breaching the constitutional limits.

He said that unconstitutional actions impeded implementation fo the 18th amendment that empowers the provincial states, adding that there should be supremacy of the Consitution.

Talking about the provincial autonomy, Rabbani said four of the 14 points of Quaid e Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah address the rights of the provinces.

Holding the general elections in time is in the larger interest of the country, he added.

He decried inability of trying former dictator General (retd) Pervez Musharraf in courts, adding that it was miserable that he made comments on the political situation of the country from abroad.

He highlighted that 18th amendment to the constitution shut all roads for martial law in the country.
