Lieutenant General Akhtar Nawaz Satti, a distinguished officer from the Frontier Force Regiment, has been a prominent figure in Pakistan’s military landscape. His career, marked by significant leadership roles and strategic positions, reflects his dedication and service to the nation.
General Satti currently serves as the Commander of the II Corps, a key formation of the Pakistan Army based in Multan Cantonment, Punjab. The II Corps is one of the ten field corps of the Pakistani military and has played a vital role in various operations, including deployments against the Indian Army in 1971 and in the Afghan conflict to bolster national defenses in the west.
Throughout his career, Lieutenant General Satti has held several prestigious positions. He served as the Vice Chief of General Staff (B) at the General Headquarters (GHQ), where he was instrumental in overseeing the strategic and operational aspects of the army. His tenure as Commandant of the Pakistan Military Academy Kakul was marked by his efforts to enhance the training and development of future military leaders.
Additionally, General Satti has been the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 26 Mechanized Division in Bahawalpur, where he led a crucial formation during his service. His leadership and expertise were further demonstrated in his role as Chairman of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), where he managed critical disaster response efforts across the country.
In recognition of his exceptional service, Lieutenant General Satti has been awarded the Hilal-e-Imtiaz (Military), a prestigious honor that acknowledges his gallantry and contributions to the military.
As General Satti prepares for retirement from the army, he has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC). This position, which has been vacant since August 2023, will see him stepping into a crucial role in overseeing the recruitment and administrative functions of the Pakistani civil service. His appointment follows the recommendation of the Prime Minister and the approval of the President.
