Monnoo Group donates Rs5m for Diamer-Basha dams

LAHORE – The Monnoo Group has contributed five million rupees to the Supreme Court of Pakistan and the Prime Minister’s Diamer Bhasha and Mohmand Dams Fund.

The family of Munir Monnoo presented the two cheques of the amount in a meeting with Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar at Supreme Court Branch Registry in Lahore yesterday.

The Lahore-based Monnoo Group is a diversified group of manufacturing companies, active in textiles, sugar and farming.

The fund established for the collection of donation for the Diamer-Bhasha and Mohmand dams hit the Rs9 billion mark over the weekend.

According to the details available on the official website, Rs9,040,196,412 have been collected as of today.

Meanwhile, the work on Mohmand Dam is expected to begin this month after all the legal, financial and technical snags were removed.

Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) has been able to successfully realign this important project after a delay of decades.
