Misbah-ul-Haq to lead Pakistan during West Indies tour 2017

LAHORE – Misbah-ul-Haq, without a doubt the most successful Test captain in Pakistan’s cricketing history, will lead the Pakistan team as Test skipper during the tour to West Indies, next month.

The 42-year-old notified the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Monday regarding his availability for the Test series starting on April 22.

Pakistan will play three Tests against the West Indies in late April. The Tests will be preceded by three ODIs and four T20Is.

Last week, Misbah had said in a post-match conference during PSL that he would make a decision on his retirement from Test cricket after meeting PCB Chairman Shahryar Khan in the near future.

Pakistan had appointed Sarfraz Ahmed as one-day captain last month after Pakistan lost a five-match series in Australia 4-1 under Azhar Ali’s leadership.

Ahmed is already leading Pakistan in the Twenty20 format and was regarded as a favourite to take over from Misbah as Test skipper.
