LAHORE (Web Desk) – Indian Border Security Forces on Saturday handed over as many as 16 Pakistani prisoners including 9 fishermen to Punjab Rangers at Wahga check post in Lahore.
According to a statement by Indian Foreign Ministry, the prisoners were detained in India since 2013 and have been repatriated to Pakistan after cases registered against them were withdrawn.
The released Pakistani fishermen were originally residents of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, according to Pakistani officials.
Earlier Pakistan released 163 Indian fishermen as a good will gesture following a meeting of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif with Indian counterpart Narendra Modi in Ufa, Russia.
