OSLO (Web Desk) – Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has sought the Norwegian cooperation in energy sector, particularly in hydro-electric power to cope with the growing energy needs.
Addressing a joint news conference with his Norwegian counterpart in Oslo, the Prime Minister said they discussed the possibility of seeking cooperation from Norway in hydro-electric power.
The PM who is on a three-day visit to Norway to represent Pakistan at the Oslo Summit on Education for Development said we are in the process of building more hydropower projects in Pakistan.
To a question about the state of education in Pakistan, the Prime Minister said despite difficulties, education remains the top most priority for Pakistan.
He said despite the problems and challenges faced by the country including terrorism, Pakistan has still managed to improve its literacy rate, check drop out rates and improve the quality of education.
About the meeting taking place between the Afghan authorities and Taliban, the Prime Minister hoped there would be a positive outcome, which will be very helpful for peace and security in Afghanistan.
He termed the meeting between Afghan authorities and Talban as a breakthrough.
He said it is also the obligation of international community that nobody tries to derail this process.
Prime Minister of Norway Mrs. Erna Solberg in her remarks said the two sides besides discussing the matters of bilateral interest also talked about a host of other issues.
She said the two countries were desirous of enhancing their ties and cooperation in diverse areas.
