ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Imran Khan is set to attend the session of the National Assembly today, local media reported.
The prime minister, according to reports, will take the lower house of parliament into confidence over his visit to China and Saudi Arabia, who have pledged to provide financial assistance to Pakistan.
It was the demand of the opposition parties that the prime minister should come to the parliament and inform the lawmakers about the conditions on which both countries agreed for the economic assistance.
Last month, Saudi Arabia had agreed to loan Pakistan $3 billion for one year as a balance of payment support and to provide a one-year deferred payment facility for oil payments, up to $3 billion, Foreign Office said in a statement.

Prime Minister’s visit to Saudi Arabia has resulted in significant understanding between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, it added.
It said Saudi Arabia will place a deposit of $3 billion for a period of one year as a balance of payment support.
It was also agreed that a one-year deferred payment facility for import of oil, up to $3 billion, will be provided by Saudi Arabia. This arrangement will be in place for three years, which will be reviewed thereafter.
Recently, the prime minister returned to Pakistan after wrapping his maiden visit to China which PTI minister claimed that it remained successful.

On Nov 6, Finance Minister Asad Umar categorically stated that Pakistan’s balance of payment crisis had been resolved as China has agreed in principle to extend an economic relief package to Pakistan.
Briefing the media about PM Imran Khan’s visit to Beijing along with Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, the Finance Minister said, “China has agreed in principle to extend an economic relief package to Pakistan.”
