ISLAMABAD (Staff Report) – Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party chief, Mahmood Khan Achakzai, on Tuesday, said that intelligence agencies should unmask the real culprits behind the Quetta blast.
Participating in the discussion on the situation after Monday’s horrific terrorist attack in the National Assembly, Achakzai said that the blast was a failure of security agencies and they must arrest the perpetrators.
“Out agencies can even find needles from the dirt and now they should also do this job,” he went on to say while adding that our bureaucracy today, is presenting new theories. Merely holding RAW responsible for the attack was not enough, he said.
He proposed that a joint session of the Parliament be convened to discuss the challenges faced by the country on the internal and external fronts.
He said that the war against terrorism cannot be won without the active support of the people. We need to decide that we will not participate in any proxy war, the PK-MAP chief said.
On the occasion, MNA Amjad Ali Khan said the entire nation is aggrieved over the terrorist attacks in Quetta which resulted in the loss of precious lives including those of lawyers and media persons.
He said India is involved in sabotage activities in the country and we should expose its ugly face before the world, adding that the National Action Plan should be implemented in letter and spirit in order to avert such despicable acts in future.
Maulana Gohar Shah said that a bomb disposal squad should be fully trained and equipped with modern tools to foil the sordid designs of the terrorists.
Mian Abdul Mannan said that all political parties, while sharing the grief of the nation, should firm up a joint strategy to cope with the menace of terrorism. He suggested that the Lower House send a delegation to Quetta to express solidarity with the bereaved families.
Akram Khan Durrani termed the Quetta tragedy as an attack on the whole country. He said the attack was aimed at undermining the multi-billion dollar China-Pakistan Economic Corridor project.
Abdul Sattar Bachani said it is the responsibility of the government and state institutions to ensure the security of lives and properties of the people. He said grievances of smaller provinces should be addressed on the immediate basis.
Tahira Aurangzeb suggested the members should give their one month salary in compensation to the bereaved families of Quetta tragedy. She said that peace is imperative to achieve the goal of progress and prosperity in the country.
She said all the political parties should rise above their differences and get united to foil the designs of enemies.
Dr Fauzia Hameed emphasised the need for promotion of harmony and unity in the society. She said that Parliament should pass effective legislation to counter the menace of terrorism.
Rajab Ali Baloch appreciated the sacrifices rendered by the security forces in the war on terror. He said it is because of their performance that the number of terrorist acts has reduced to a great deal.
