ISLAMABAD (Staff Report) – Pakistan People’s Party co-chairperson Asif Ali Zardari has decided to write a letter to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in which he would share his concerns about the Rangers powers in Sindh and legal actions against PPP leaders.
According to party sources, the letter will also remind Nawaz Sharif of several matters including the reconciliation policy that was agreed during PPP government with PML-N.
Opposition Leader in National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah, on the behalf of Mr Zardari, will hand over the letter to the prime minister, sources added.
On Saturday, the PPP co-chairman came down hard on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif over registration of a case against his sister Faryal Talpur’s husband. “The fake case against Mir Munawwar Talpur is New Year’s gift by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. I thank him for the first gift of year 2016,” Zardari said in a statement.
The former president, who has been recently elected as PPPP president after the demise of Makhdoom Amin Faheem, said that Nawaz Sharif has learnt no lessons from the past. “Nobody could get their agenda accomplished against PPP in the past and nor will anybody be able to get it in future,” he said.
Case was registered against Dr Asim Hussain in 2015 but nothing could be proven against him, he added.
Responding to Zardari’s statement, PML-N leader Daniyal Aziz said that registering cases and releasing people is the job of the relevant departments, not the prime minister. He maintained the prime minister has never tried to influence any government department in the fulfilment of its legal duties.
