KARACHI – Renowned religious scholar Maulana Tariq Jameel was offloaded on Wednesday from Canada-bound flight at Dubai airport due to lack of security clearance.
Jameel was going to Toronto along with former skipper of Pakistan cricket team Shahid Afridi when he was barred from flying to Canada.
The religious scholar was to attend a fundraising charity dinner going to be held there on May 12 and 13 for the Shahid Afridi Foundation (SAF).
Afridi said that Jameel was offloaded on the directions of the Canadian authorities despite having a visa of the country.
Regarding the event, Afridi has tweeted

However, Afridi has left for Canada after the incident.
SAF was founded in March 2014 by Shahid Afridi. The charitable organization was established to work for the prosperity and health of the neglected people in the society.
