Gilgit-Baltistan DIG suspended for uploading ex-wife s objectionable pictures on Facebook

ISLAMABAD – Gilgit-Baltistan police DIG crime branch Syed Junaid Arshad has been suspended for his alleged involvement in cyber crime, local media reported.

As per reports, Ayesha Subhani, the ex-wife of the DIG registered an FIR with the Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) cybercrime wing in June and accused her former husband of blackmailing her with the assistance of his friend, Danish Ghani, by uploading objectionable pictures of her on social media.

The officials following the complaint conducted a raid to arrest Arshad, but he had already obtained a pre-arrest bail.

DIG’s ex-wife already moved the Supreme Court in August, seeking cancellation of his bail granted him by the GB Chief Court.

After Arshad was reportedly found involved in this activity during the investigation, the Establishment Division has written to the chief executive of the GB, directing him to suspend the officer following the charges of publishing ex-wife’s objectionable pictures on Facebook.

Following the instructions, the DIG crime branch has been suspended.
