Shehbaz Sharif inaugurates motorcycle ambulance service in Lahore

LAHORE – In order to extend the reach of the ambulance service, Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday inaugurated a motorcycle ambulance service.

Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister said that 900 motorcycle ambulances will operate under Punjab Emergency Service — Rescue 1122 — to facilitate people in areas where a proper ambulance is unable to go.

The project, which has been initially started in Lahore, will be extended to the nine divisional headquarters of Punjab in different phases, he said.

Through this service, the rescuers will provide first aid, besides alerting the nearest ambulance to approach them for shifting of patients.

The chief minister also appreciated the efforts of Rescue 1122 DG Dr Rizwan Naseer for completing the project in just six to seven months.

He also thanked Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Turkey’s health minister for providing training to the rescue staff.
