ISLAMABAD – Beijing has reacted to the political changes in Pakistan days after Imran Khan was ousted as prime minister after losing a no-confidence motion.
China while expressing its firm disapproval of any external interference in Islamabad’s internal affairs, said that the ouster of the Imran Khan-led government will not affect the all-weather ties between the neighboring countries.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian briefing media responded to the ouster of cricketer-turned-politician and its impact on Pak-China ties.
He said Beijing noted changes in the political circles of Pakistan, saying we sincerely hope all political parties will maintain solidarity and jointly uphold stability and development in their country.
The Chinese embassy in Islamabad also shared a tweet hours after Pakistan’s lower house elected a new prime minister. “China will firmly adhere to our friendly policy to Pakistan and we don’t believe the political change will affect the bilateral relations whatsoever,” the tweet reads.
Spox @zlj517 : No matter how the political situation in #Pakistan changes, #China will unswervingly adhere to its friendly policy towards Pakistan. We believe that changes in Pakistan's political situation will not affect the overall situation of China-Pakistan relations.

Reports in Chinese media claimed that Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz has been promoting bilateral ties for a long time, and cooperation between the iron-friendly countries could be even better than the PTI government.
Back in the day, PM-elect Shehbaz Sharif struck many cooperation deals with Beijing to improve local infrastructure and economic development, while his family also maintained long-standing ties with China.
