PTI invites PML-N bigwigs to Imran Khan s oath-taking ceremony

ISLAMABAD – A delegation of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) met Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq here Sunday and invited Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), parliamentary leaders, to be a part of Imran Khan’s oath-taking ceremony.

The delegation comprising former Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa chief minister Pervez Khattak, party spokesperson Fawad Chaudhry, former K-P Assembly speaker Asad Qaiser and Shafqat Mehmood arrived at the Ayaz Sadiq’s house in Islamabad to exchange views over the upcoming session of the National Assembly session and election of new the speaker of the house.

Sadiq will administer an oath to newly-elected members of the lower house of parliament on Monday (tomorrow).

Talking to media persons after the meeting, PTI spokesman and MNA Fawad Chaudhry said it was a vision of Imran Khan to take along the opposition on national issues.

“We need unity to overcome challenges facing the country,” he remarked. The system will not move ahead if parties would not work together, he said and appreciated the decision of major parties to become part of the Parliament.

“The decision of Shehbaz Sharif, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, and others to come to the Parliament is a good gesture.”

He told that PTI delegation would also meet PPP leader Khurshid Shah in the evening. The reservations of the opposition regarding elections would be heard, he added.

PTI MNA Asad Qaisar said Pakistan was facing numerous security and economic challenges and the PTI wanted a working relationship with other parties.

Ayaz Sadiq said PTI wanted to move forward on issues in consultation with other parties. PTI also expressed its willingness to hear reservations of the opposition on an election, he added.

According to details, the session has been called at 10:00am on Monday at the Parliament House. It will begin with newly-elected MNAs taking an oath. The nomination papers for speaker and deputy speaker can be submitted by August 14 (Tuesday) 12:00am while the election will be held on August 15 (Wednesday).
