Imran Khan disqualification case: SC seeks verified financial details of Bani Gala property

ISLAMABAD – The Supreme Court on Tuesday while hearing Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan’s disqualification case directed PTI’s counsel to provide verified financial details of Imran’s Bani Gala property.

A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Saqib Nisar, and comprising Justice Faisal Arab and Justice Umar Ata Bindial resumed the hearing of the case filed by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Hanif Abbasi against Khan and Jehangir Tareen for concealing assets and violating Income Tax Ordinance.

As the hearing commenced, PTI chairman’s counsel Naeem Bukhari informed the court that a reply as per court orders has been submitted.

In response, the Chief Justice observed that financial details regarding purchase of Bani Gala property are still missing. Imran Khan has also not mentioned anything about buying the property in Jemima’s name.

The Chief Justice further said that respondent will have to give a satisfactory reply regarding the transaction worth 160,000 pounds. He further inquired why the amount was sent to Rashid Khan instead of Imran Khan.

Where are the receipts of the transactions to substantiate that Khan borrowed money from Jemima and returned it to her later? asked Justice Nisar.

There is an impression that property is Benami, the Chief Justice said.

Bukhari assured the court he will try his best to satisfy the court.

The court adjourned the hearing till September 26, adding that there will be consequences if a verified record was not submitted to the court.
