Arif Alvi orders withdrawal of tender for expensive cages at President House

ISLAMABAD – President Arif Alvi took notice of a tender published in leading dailies for construction of ‘expensive’ cages at the presidential palace zoo, ordering an inquiry into the matter.

According to a statement issued officially by the spokesperson on Thursday, the tender was released without obtaining approval from the competent authority.

The tender published by the Capital Development Authority pertained to cages for parrots to be built at Aiwan-e-Sadar at a cost of around Rs 2 million.

Soon after the tender caught the attention of social media users, the sitting regime’s policy of austerity was questioned following which the president issued a clarification.
