Sindh governor seeks ban on dance, singing programs on TV during Rabiul Awal

KARACHI – Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori has write a letter to Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra), requesting a ban on dance, singing and other related programs during the holy month of Rabiul Awal.

He said all television channels and cable operators should be issued instructions in this regard. In the letter, the governor emphasised that programs related to the teachings and life of the Prophet (PBUH) should be aired as they are essential for the better upbringing of the younger generation.

He said the Islamic month of Rabiul Awal holds great significance for Muslims across the world as birth anniversary (Eid Miladun Nabi) is celebrated during this month.

The governor also revealed that he had written a letter to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, requesting two public holidays on 11 and 12 Rabiul Awal so people can celebrate the Eid Miladun Nabi with religious fervor.

The 12th Rabi ul Awwal, also known as Eid Milad-un-Nabi, holds immense significance in the Islamic calendar. It is a day of deep reflection and celebration, as it marks the birth of the Prophet (PBUH), whose life and teachings continue to inspire billions of people worldwide.

In Pakistan, the day is traditionally observed with great reverence through processions, special prayers, and religious gatherings. In cities and towns throughout Pakistan, preparations for the occasion are already underway. Homes, streets, and buildings are being adorned with lights and banners, while various religious organizations are planning events to celebrate the day.
