QUETTA – Prime Minister Imran Khan will pay a visit to Quetta on April 18 to express his heartfelt condolences with families of 21 martyrs including eight Hazaras.
The premier is scheduled to preside over an important meeting to examine peace and security situation in Balochistan, in the backdrop of Hazarganji blast.
The visit comes amid protests staged by the Hazara community to demand arrest of the culprits involved in the attack that took place in the fruit market last week.
The protesters, still gathered at the western bypass, had urged the premier to visit Quetta to personally monitor the security provided to the community and take adequate measures, including the implementation of National Action Plan (NAP).
As many s 21 people were left dead in an explosion believed to be targeting the Hazara community in Quetta’s Hazarganji sabzi mandi on Friday; the militant Islamic State had claimed responsibility for the attack.
After the incident, the premier took to Twitter and condemned the attack.

Earlier on Monday, State Minister for Interior, Sheharyar Afridi, arrived in Quetta to review the security situation. He was accompanied by Prime Minister’s Special Assistant on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development Zulfiqar Bukhari.
The minister visited the Imam Bargah located in Hazara town to condole with the bereaved family members.
Talking to newsmen, Afridi said the federal government stands with the Hazara community and that concrete steps would be taken to end the crimes against its members.
PM’s Quetta Visit
Though the premier’s visit is focused at visiting the victims of the Hazarganji market bombing, he will also examine development projects initiated by the provincial government; the prime minister is scheduled to inaugurate a housing scheme under which 125,000 houses will be built for people of Balochistan.
In particular, more than 1,000 houses will be built in Wahdat Colony and Kachlak.
