LAHORE – Amjad Javed Saleemi, the recently appointed Inspector General Police Punjab has taken charge of his office on Monday.
Saleemi was appointed as new Punjab Inspector General on October 9, after a notification issued by the Establishment Division.
However, the appointment was partially suspended when the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) annulled the notification.
The electoral watchdog cited the by-elections as a reason for suspending the notification issued by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government.
Amjad Javed Saleem joined police department as Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) on November 1, 1986. He served as DPO Gujranwala and Mianwali and also performed his duties in Bosnia under United Nations’ peace mission after selection in the 14th Common division
He was also posted as DPO Sahiwal and Sialkot and also served as DIG investigation and CCPO Quetta; Saleemi’s retirement is due on January 31, 2020.
He is replacing Tahir Khan who was appointed by the government and could serve at the position for merely 5 months.
