SARGODHA – On the directions of Provincial Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, the Punjab government has started Khadim-e-Punjab Saaf Dehat programme (KPSDP) in the district.
The programme had been launched under Rural Development Package for which Rs2.5 million will be provided to 185 union councils (UC) each and Rs500,000 to each ward of the UC for development schemes.
Under the programme, Rs506 million funds were allocated for the development schemes and cleanliness of villages in Sargodha District while November 18 deadline had also been issued for submission of project’s proposals.
The funds will be released to the UCs till November 25 and last date for completion of projects will be February 25, 2018.
In this regard, Deputy Commissioner Liaqat Ali Chatha said that work would be completed on time and no compromise would be made on quality of work.
He said that committees had also been formed at provincial, district and tehsil level and their notifications had also been issued.
He maintained maximum projects would be taken from municipal committees while third party validation would be made possible for monitoring of fake schemes.
He pointed out to improve the cleanliness of villages, a special initiative was being taken by the provincial government and dumping sites were being allocated where containers will be installed for disposing of garbage.
Meanwhile, the district administration proposed to shift grain market outside the city to overcome traffic mess in congested area.
The deputy commissioner said planning was underway to construct new grain market and its shifting from city area while a new park would also be constructed at existing market place.
He added all basic facilities will be provided to the business community in new market.
He said the decision to establish a new market would help reduce traffic burden in congested areas and enhance beauty of the city.
The DC said that new market would explore new business opportunities and urged the traders to cooperate with the district administration in this regard.
