KARACHI (Web Desk) – The election frenzy is in full swing as Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) is all set to flex its political muscle with a massive showing in Liquatabad today in connection with NA-246 by-polls.
The party chief, Altaf Hussain, will address the workers and leaders. Altaf yesterday voiced grievances towards the party’s central leaders in Friday’s address and announced to step down as their leader. However, he was once again brought round to change his mind and continue as party head.
Meantime, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) gave final touches to the arrangements for an election rally on Sharah-e-Pakistan on Sunday. The party chairman, Imran Khan, will reach Karachi today to address tomorrow’s public gathering.
Muttahida leaders claimed that today’s rally will be huge and historic, as the political rivals will come to discern disparity between a real rally by a political party and a small gathering. The party sources said the MQM’s candidate, Kanwar Naveed Jameel, along with other members and leaders of the MQM Rabita Committee will address today’s rally.
The temperature in the NA-246 constituency is at all time high as the traditional political rivals – MQM, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) and the PTI – are making their utmost pitch to attract maximum number of voters by holding public rallies and canvassing from door to door.
The seat fell vacant after MQM’s MNA Nabeel Gabol resigned from the party. He also stepped down as an MNA.
