ISLAMABAD (Staff Report) – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is expected to reach Karachi on Thursday, said media reports on Tuesday.
The premier will chair a session of Sindh’s provincial apex committee during his one-day visit.
The law enforcement agencies including Sindh Rangers are also expected to brief him regarding the ongoing targeted operation Karachi.
The visit is going to take place in a time when Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) lawmakers have submitted their resignations in National Assembly, Senate and Sindh Assembly while alleging that Rangers have been victimizing the party in Karachi operation.
Earlier JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, who is designated by government to persuade MQM lawmakers to withdraw their resignations, held a meeting with MQM leaders at Nine -Zero. However the meeting was cut short after Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) senior leader, former MNA Abdul Rashid Godil got injured when gunmen opened fire on his car in Karachi.
Police said, the incident took place in Bahadur Abad area where unknown bike riders fired six shots on Godil’s car and managed to flee from the scene.
He received bullets in his chest, head and jaw. The driver died on the spot, while wife is safe.
Godil was rushed to a Liaquat National Hospital where his condition is said to be critical, hospital sources said. He underwent surgery at a hospital.
Godil’s wife was in the car at the time of the attack but remained unhurt.
