Justin Trudeau sends congratulatory message to PM Imran Khan from Canada

ISLAMABAD – Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has congratulated Imran Khan on assuming the office of the Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

During the telephone conversation, the Canadian premier appreciated his Pakistani counterpart’s illustrious career in cricket and politics while wishing him well for implementing his party’s agenda for the welfare of the nation.

Both the leaders discussed bilateral relations and stressed the need for further strengthening of ties particularly in areas of trade, commerce, and investment.

PM Imran also underscored the contributions of over 400,000 Pakistani-Canadians to the North American country. Both the leaders reaffirmed commitment to work together to strengthen bilateral relations in diverse fields.

Pakistan’s new premier has also received congratulatory messages from other global leaders including prime ministers of China, Malaysia, and India.

Imran Khan, the chief of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, swept to power in the July 25 polls surprising the political commentators and rivals alike.

He was sworn in as the 22nd Chief Executive of the country on Saturday, amid hopes of progress and the change which his party promised.
