RAWALPINDI – The delegation of the government is currently holding negotiations with a committee representing the religious groups staging a sit-in at Faizabad Inchange in Islamabad.
Scores of ministers and lawmakers from the government side including Captain (r) Safdar, Raja Zafar ul Haq, Zahid Hamid, Khawaja Saad Rafique, Rana Sana Ullah are present in the huddle whereas the committee of religious groups comprises Azhar Hussain Rizvi, Shafiq Amini, Pir Inayat ul Haq Shah and Waheed Noor.
Moreover, senior police officials including Commissioner Islamabad, Mayor and Commissioner Rawalpindi, Chief Secretary Punjab and Inspector General Police Punjab are also among the participants.
The meeting follows the hearing of a case at the Islamabad High Court where the Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal showed up and sought some time to end the sit-in that has paralysed the city from last 15 days.

After the hearing, the minister expressed that the deadline for evicting the protest was extended until November 23.
The minister claimed that there were conspirers who wanted a ‘Model Town or Lal Masjid’ like episode once again, referring to government action against political workers in Lahore in 2014 and seminary students in Islamabad in 2007, respectively.
On the other hand, a heavy contingent of Rangers, Frontier Corps and police are deployed in the area whereas armoured vehicles, prison vans and ambulances are also present.
