US senior official voices concern about human rights situation in occupied Kashmir

WASHINGTON – A senior US state department official has said that we have long called for direct conversations between Pakistan and India to resolve issues.

While talking to reporters in Washington, he expressed concern over the human rights situation in occupied Kashmir. He said that India should move quickly to release detainees to restore basic freedoms and a return to normalcy.

Senior official said the United States (US) continue to be very concerned by reports of detentions and the continued restrictions on the residents of the region.
