On Thursday, Commercial Counselor Steve Knode and U.S. Consulate Lahore Political, Economic Chief Ann Mason travelled to Faisalabad, Pakistan’s third largest city, and met with the Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry and the Faisalabad Industrial Estate Development & Management Company.
Mr. Knode discussed the prevailing commercial and economic climate in Punjab and offered to help U.S. companies find local partners in Pakistan. While discussing business opportunities in Punjab province with members of the Faisalabad Chamber, Mr. Knode said, “U.S. companies are interested in business opportunities in Pakistan, and this visit will allow me to raise awareness about Faisalabad.”
The U.S. delegation also exchanged views with their hosts regarding trade policies being implemented by Pakistan’s federal and provincial governments as well as potential business opportunities for U.S. companies.
During his three-day visit to Punjab, Commercial Counselor Knode met with many businessmen and officials from Lahore and Faisalabad to discuss key issues that affect trade in the region, including the promotion of trade and investment, commercial diplomacy, taxation and bilateral/multilateral trade agreements.
The U.S. mission in Pakistan works to promote and enhance commercial ties between the two countries. The United States is the largest trading partner for Pakistan, with bilateral trade of more than $5 billion per year. The United States is also the leading export market for Pakistani products.
