ISLAMABAD – Former president and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari appeared before an accountability court in Islamabad today (Friday) upon completion of his physical remand.
According to media details, Zardari appeared before accountability court judge Muhammad Arshad.
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) presented a progress report during today’s hearing. The bureau will request the court to extend Zardari’s remand.
Strict security arrangements have been made to avoid any untoward situation while the general public also been barred from entering the premises.
Last week, the accountability court had granted NAB 10-day physical remand of the former president.
On June 10, the NAB arrested Zardari in the fake bank accounts case from Islamabad after a bench of the Islamabad High Court had rejected a plea filed by Zardari and his sister, Faryal Talpur, seeking an extension in their interim bail in the fake bank accounts case.
