RAWALPINDI – Chairman, National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Justice (r) Javed Iqbal took a strong exception to a statement passed by Science and Technology Minister Fawad Chaudhry, ordering suitable action against it.
The minister had stated on TV that it was the government instead of the anti-graft body which was carrying out the process of accountability.
According to a statement issued on Friday, the NAB chief has directed DG Rawalpindi NAB to take action against the minister after acquiring a copy of his statement from the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA).

The accountability watchdog stated that Chaudhry’s remarks not only tarnished the image of the anti-graft body but also negated the hard work of NAB officials who have been performing their duties with honesty, intended to eliminate corruption from the country.
The statement said well reputed national and international organizations have lauded NAB’s efforts to put an end to corruption in the country.
“Fawad Chaudhry’s statement can affect and prove to be a hurdle in the way of the investigations being carried out by the NAB,” said the statement.
