CJP Saqib Nisar to hear cases in Karachi today

KARACHI – Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar will hear multiple cases of public interest at the Supreme Court’s Karachi Registry on Sunday (today).

A bench headed by the chief justice is set to hear several crucial cases, such as the Manchar Lake pollution case, Sindh water commission case, the case related to the occupation of public parks, corruption in Sindh police and load-shedding in Karachi.

On the other side, Karachi’s Martin Quarters and FC Area residents are protesting against the eviction notices to them for vacating illegally occupied government residences, reports Geo News.

On the night of July 16, residents of the two localities took to the streets outside the Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) Bahadurabad office after they were served eviction notices.

MQM leader Kanwar Naveed Jamil had said the protesters had been living in the area for a long time and asking them to leave is unjust, adding that they have been MQM voters for the past 30 years.
