Nawaz Sharif complains about double standards of judiciary again

ISLAMABAD –  Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif once again claimed that the judiciary was exercising double standards in meting out justice citing the pace of court proceedings in the cases launched against his rivals.

In a brief media interaction outside the accountability court, where he showed up along with his daughter Maryam and son-in-law Captain (r) Safdar, the former legislator expressed that the rules of the game should be the same.

The president of ruling Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz expressed that court decisions in their case came swiftly, wondering that when the decision on ‘their’ cases will come, in a reference to the disqualification petitions filed against the chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Imran Khan and Secretary General Jahangir Tareen.

‘The courts’ double standards are becoming evident,’ he declared as he appeared before the accountability court hearing graft cases against him and hs family.

The disqualified premier also condemned the use of terms ‘Sicilian mafia’ and ‘godfather’ by the judges of the supreme court in the Panama case verdict and during the proceedings of suo moto notice taken against Senator Nehal Hashmi.

Nawaz also censured Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak saying he used official vehicles to lead rallies against the federal government during the 2014 sit-in.

The former lawmaker specifically mentioned that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s sit-in obstructed the development in the country but hastened to add that even then Pakistan saw an era of progress.

After appearing before the court, the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz leader expressed that the dictator’s black laws were rejected on the floor of the house yesterday.

The elder Sharif lamented the Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) move of the amendment bill, saying their support for this bill hurt him.

‘The party’s action has made me question their democratic credentials’ he noted.
