ISLAMABAD (APP) – Adviser on Foreign Affairs and National Security Sartaj Aziz has said that Taliban who are the supporters of peace talks have kept silence whereas the opponents are giving statements.
Responding to question in the first-ever meeting of the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee at Parliament House, he said that due to the ongoing war in Afghanistan it would be too early to say anything about peace dialouge.
He stated that the coming few weeks will be extremely significant for peace talks however; it is being tried to conduct such a dialouge in either Qatar or Istanbul.
He confirmed that negotiations are going on with the Afghan authorities regarding the search and extradition of Taliban leader Mullah Fazlullah.
Foreign Secretary Aizaz Chaudhry also briefed the committee about talks with India and said that no progress has yet been made in this regard as India is ruling out the resumption of dialogue.
