Army Chief discusses regional security challenges with Egyptian President

CAIRO – Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif called on the Egyptian President in Cairo on Tuesday and discussed matters relating to regional security and other emerging security challenges.

The Egyptian President acknowledged Pakistan’s efforts in supporting regional stability and the fight against terrorism.

The Army Chief said the world and Muslim Ummah should be unified against terrorism.

The COAS also met Sheikh-ul-Azhar at Al-Azhar University, one of the oldest institutions of higher learning in the world. The Sheikh also appreciated Pakistan’s efforts towards getting rid of terrorism.

The COAS emphasized the need to guide the Muslim youth towards enlightenment, technological advancement, moderation and harmony.

Earlier, the Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif witnessed the training and practice of Egyptian Special Forces.

He appreciated the Egyptian forces’ skills and professionalism.
