Pakistan vows to cooperate against weapons spread of mass destruction

UNITED NATIONS: Pakistan has vowed to continue cooperation with the international community for preventing the proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMDs).

“Pakistan will continue cooperating with efforts to promote fair and equitable solutions to disarmament and nuclear non-proliferation challenges,” said Pakistan’s Ambassador to the UN, Maleeha Lodhi.

The representative added Pakistan has made remarkable progress towards the resolution’s implementation. She also outlined the legislative, regulatory, administrative and organisational steps taken in this regard.

She said Pakistan had always fully supported the globally agreed objectives of promoting nuclear proliferation and disarmament, Radio Pakistan reported.

Speaking in the debate, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon called for the intensification of efforts to prevent the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.
