Heavy rain leaves Lahore inundated

LAHORE (Web Desk / APP) – Heavy monsoon rain lashed various areas of Lahore on Monday turning the weather pleasant.

Downpour in different areas inundated roads and streets in the provincial capital of Lahore and commuters faced immense difficulties while trying to carry on with their routines.

According to reports, scattered rain lashed Mall Road, Jail Road, Ferozpur Road, Shimla Pahari, Garhi Shahu, Data Darbar, Davis Road, Airport, Harbanspura among others areas.

Traffic flow was affected on Jail Road leading up to Mall Road as motorcyclists parked under an overhead bridge blocking the traffic. Numerous power feeders tripped across Lahore as soon as heavy rain hit.

Meteorological Department has stated that the spell would continue till Tuesday evening.

It should be mentioned here that around three lives were lost in different rain-related accidents in Lahore involving short circuit and electrocution in this season whereas atleast 17 people were injured in other cities of the country.

The department stated that Rain-thunderstorm with few heavy falls is expected at scattered places of South Punjab, Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar, Mardan, Sindh, FATA, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir while at isolated places of Islamabad, Upper Punjab and eastern Balochistan during the next twelve hours.

However, downpour may trigger flash flooding and landslides in the vulnerable areas of Punjab, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir.
